Sighting in Saint-Zacharie, January 12, 2015

At 7 a.m. on a Monday, the witness noticed a diffuse light through the glass door of their home. They stepped out onto their terrace and found themselves a few metres from an unidentified aerospace phenomenon moving silently toward them. A white light that did not dazzle was mounted at its front. The object travelled slowly between mobile homes standing close together.

The witness walked around the home and ended up facing the object's right side, where a yellow and red "logo" was visible. They said they lost track of time. The object continued north-north-east, tilted, then picked up speed and altitude before disappearing above the trees. The witness then saw that its shape was oval. No other testimony was gathered, and there is no photograph.

The investigation found the observation strange: the phenomenon looked unusual, the hour was very early, and the place very isolated. Its speed, size and shape were nothing out of the ordinary, and an inflatable advertising balloon was considered. However, its trajectory, which narrowly skirted obstacles, is surprising; it would have had to escape its owner, and its presence so far from any advertising purpose is hard to explain. The hypothesis could not be validated. The testimony is considered consistent, but it rests on a single witness with no photo, which puts its consistency at the bare minimum needed to confirm the case as strange and unexplained. After review by its panel of experts, GEIPAN classified the case D1: unexplained phenomenon of medium strangeness.
