Sighting in Lannilis, February 13, 1985

Finistère, Bretagne, France

Sighting on February 13, 1985 in Lannilis (Finistère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

On 13 and 18 February 1985, at around 9:30 p.m., several witnesses noticed a silent light in the sky. It was a round, very bright white ball, clearly larger than a star. It moved slowly and at low altitude. According to the conclusion of the file, its brightness was about twenty times that of a star.

The ball left the witnesses' field of view very quickly, although they still had time to film the phenomenon.

GEIPAN considered whether it could have been a planet or a star, but this hypothesis could not be confirmed because too little information was gathered during the investigation. The case is classified C: the data are insufficient to reach a conclusion.
