What happened
A driver and their two passengers noticed an aircraft they could not identify. It was flying slowly, at low altitude and without making any noise, which caught their attention. The witnesses placed the sighting at 4:15 pm.
GEIPAN contacted the military air traffic control. It confirmed that a military aircraft had flown over the commune at very low altitude that same day, at around 4:00 pm, at about 2,100 feet (roughly 700 m), on a north/north-west heading. The witnesses' account and the air traffic control data differ on the time, by 15 minutes, and on the estimated altitude. Even so, the unusual passage of this aircraft fully explains what the witnesses saw.
