What happened

At around 10:15 p.m., the witness was outside their home when they heard high-pitched voices speaking words they did not know. They then saw an unidentified object in front of them, hovering motionless about five metres above the ground. It was dark, pyramid-shaped and large, with a broad beam of light above it. Several colours were also visible. The witness thought they may have stood watching for fifteen or twenty minutes. A big flash then dazzled them, and when they opened their eyes again the object was gone. Severe headaches followed and stopped when their brother arrived.

Another witness told the gendarmerie that, the same evening and in the same area, between 9 and 10 p.m., their dog had barked in an unusual way, although it normally only barked when visitors were present. The witness and their family gave statements to the gendarmerie. The gendarmes' investigation found no marks on the ground and no confirmation of any aircraft flying in the area at that time. When GEIPAN phoned the witness in 2011, there was nothing new to report and no further episode had occurred. The account showed none of the features of a hoax, and GEIPAN searched the local press for similar reports.

A doctor consulted by GEIPAN pointed to ophthalmic migraine, in which visual phenomena come before severe headaches. This hypothesis cannot be confirmed but has to be considered. The case has a high degree of strangeness, but it rests on a single witness, judged sincere, and the account contains elements typical of a passing hallucination. For lack of concrete evidence and cross-checking, GEIPAN classified it C.
