Sighting in Le Blanc, June 1980

Indre, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting in June 1980 in Le Blanc (Indre, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In the night, at around 2:45 a.m., a witness noticed a luminous orange oval shape about 50 metres from their home. It measured roughly 0.80 m high by 0.40 m wide. The glowing mass stayed motionless, and the witness watched it for 40 minutes. It disappeared while the witness had gone back inside to the kitchen. No trace was found on the ground.

Another person stated that a month earlier they had seen a luminous ball about 50 m above the ground, which moved along following their vehicle.

No further information was gathered on these phenomena. Because the data were insufficient, the GEIPAN classified the case as C; its conclusion was the observation of a stationary luminous shape.
