What happened

At 1:20 in the morning, two witnesses were inside an apartment when they noticed a green, egg-shaped object in the sky. It was moving at very high speed toward the southeast along a straight path. The sighting lasted 6 seconds, after which the object split into two parts and was then hidden from view by the urban landscape.

No other witness accounts of the phenomenon were collected. Based on the details the witnesses gave, the GEIPAN concluded that they had probably seen an atmospheric re-entry, and classed the case B (probably identified).
