Sighting in Le Pian-Médoc, September 6, 2013

Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on September 6, 2013 in Le Pian-Médoc (Gironde, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness watched several white lights move across a cloudy sky for about five seconds, one evening around 10 p.m. They moved silently, first in a straight line and then turning counterclockwise, before disappearing. They looked like white circles that seemed to be projected onto the clouds and were moving in a circle.

This description is reminiscent of the animation projectors that nightclubs use for promotion, and the timing of the sighting (an evening close to the weekend, around 10 p.m.) would fit. However, the investigation found no nightclub within 10 km of the location. The nearest ones are 12 km away, on the edge of Bordeaux, and 18 km away, towards Blaye, which is too far for the projections to be clearly visible.

Despite the strong resemblance to the effect of a "skyrose" type projector, GEIPAN received only one account and could not cross-check it with anything else. It therefore classified the case C, insufficient data.
