What happened

Two witnesses were out jogging at about 10 p.m. when they noticed a red, ball-shaped light in the sky that twinkled like a star. Suddenly it moved toward them at what they described as a dizzying speed. They noticed no noise, no movement of air and no heat.

After tracing a curve, the light hung motionless for three to four seconds, roughly 200 metres from the witnesses, above the edge of the forest. A dark mass then appeared inside the light, and the phenomenon abruptly vanished.

The investigation found no other testimony and no physical evidence relating to the event. GEIPAN classified it as D: the phenomenon remains unexplained.
