Sighting in Menton (06) --.10, October 1993

France

Sighting in October 1993 in Menton (06) --.10 (France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The witness was with five other people on a summer evening, between 9 and 10 p.m., on a date somewhere between 1993 and 1997 that they could not pin down. The sky was clear. The group noticed an unusual light phenomenon: bright points arranged in two identical isosceles triangles, which seemed to rotate around the central axis of each triangle.

All at once the points stopped moving and the two triangles went off in opposite directions. The first headed toward Mont Gros and disappeared behind the landscape. The second first came to a halt above the sea, then resumed its rotation and vanished suddenly.

The account was given on 24 April 2008, many years after the event, and the date used for the file is arbitrary. GEIPAN considers that investigating such a late testimony is very difficult, if not impossible. Sightings of flying triangles are frequent: some remain unexplained, but many others are mistakes involving aircraft seen from a particular angle. In this case there are too few details to check the aircraft hypothesis today. The case is classified C, for insufficient data.
