Sighting in Metz, March 2015

Moselle, Grand Est, France

Sighting in March 2015 in Metz (Moselle, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The witness was in their kitchen in the late afternoon, between 5:00 and 5:30 pm, in early March 2015. Looking out of the window, they saw three long, flat, very bright shapes cross the sky. Two other people also watched the phenomenon, but only one account was collected.

Investigators compared the description to aircraft reflecting the light of the setting sun: when the sun is low and the light is grazing, the wings of planes become almost invisible. However, because the exact day of the sighting is unknown, the necessary checks could not be carried out. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, owing to insufficient information about the date.
