Sighting in Meyrignac-l'Église, March 23, 2011

Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on March 23, 2011 in Meyrignac-l'Église (Corrèze, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably one or more satellites (class B).

What happened

The witness saw something for only a very brief moment: a very bright white ball that seemed to be heading toward them. It then vanished as it climbed back up into the sky. The witness heard no particular noise, and no other testimony was collected.

The description is consistent with sunlight reflecting off an Iridium satellite. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as B, concluding that it was probably an Iridium flash.
