Sighting on December 27, 2009 in Morsang-sur-Orge (Essonne, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a meteor or fireball (class B).

What happened

At around one o'clock in the morning, a witness was looking out of a window when an intense, steady green light moved quickly across the sky, from the south toward the northeast. The sighting lasted only a few seconds, and the witness heard no sound.

According to GEIPAN, the description fits every characteristic of a meteoroid (meteorite) entering the atmosphere, a phenomenon also known as a bolide: a straight path across the sky lasting a few seconds, with a green color. The REFORME observer network did not report the event. The case was classified B: probable observation of a meteoroid atmospheric entry.
