Sighting in Nancy, November 24, 1977

Meurthe-et-Moselle, Grand Est, France

Sighting on November 24, 1977 in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 7:20 a.m., a witness saw an oval-shaped object pass by, about the apparent size of a rugby ball. It gave off a bright light. It was moving along an east-north path, then turned around and went back the same distance in the opposite direction, until it disappeared behind features of the urban landscape.

The sighting lasted roughly thirty seconds, and the witness heard no particular noise. No other testimony was gathered about this phenomenon. Because information was lacking, GEIPAN classified the case as C (insufficient data): it records the passage of an oval object that changed direction, but cannot go further.
