Sighting in Paris, December 5, 2010

Île-de-France, France

Sighting on December 5, 2010, exact location not given (département: Paris, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably an aircraft (plane, helicopter…) (class B).

What happened

At around 11:45 p.m., a driver and their passenger noticed an object in the sky that they could not account for. It was cylindrical in shape, with a light at each end, front and back, and it crossed the sky.

In the questionnaire they completed, the witness themselves suggested an explanation: the two approach lights of an aircraft, seen through a hazy, polluted sky above the Paris urban area. GEIPAN considered this interpretation probable and classified the case as B, a probable sighting of an aircraft passing by. Because the questionnaire contained few details, the investigation could not take the analysis any further.
