Sighting in Pouzauges, 1977

Vendée, Pays de la Loire, France

Sighting in 1977 in Pouzauges (Vendée, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The account was collected in July 2009 and concerns an old sighting from the summer of 1977. The witness could no longer recall the exact date, only that it fell somewhere between June and August. Several people saw a luminous object in the night sky.

At first the object stayed motionless. It then began to move at uneven speeds, changing direction as it went. In the end it vanished at high speed toward the west.

No other testimony about this phenomenon was gathered. GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data: information is lacking, and an investigation today would be difficult, if not impossible. The conclusion notes the observation of unusual movements of a luminous phenomenon.
