Sighting in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, July 7, 2007

Yvelines, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on July 7, 2007 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a reflection or photographic artefact (class A).

What happened

A witness took photographs at a wedding. Looking at them afterwards, they noticed spots they could not account for. They went to the local gendarmerie brigade, made a statement and handed over the pictures. Nobody had reported seeing anything unusual with the naked eye at the time, so the investigation rested on the images alone.

Analysis of the three photographs showed clearly that the black dots were birds flying through the frame as the pictures were taken. GEIPAN classified the case as A: identified phenomenon.
