Sighting in Saint-Julien-le-Faucon, August 6, 2000

Calvados, Normandie, France

Sighting on August 6, 2000 in Saint-Julien-le-Faucon (Calvados, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The account was collected in October 2009 and concerned an observation made much earlier. Three people saw several points of light cross the sky at high altitude at around 11 p.m. The lights followed one another in single file and made no noise. Their brightness varied. They moved across the sky very quickly, probably from south to north, along a slightly elliptical path, and then faded out toward the horizon.

The witnesses placed the event in the summer of 2008, but the year remained uncertain. No other report of the phenomenon was received. Because precise information was lacking, especially the date, and because so much time had passed, GEIPAN considered any investigation difficult, if not impossible. The case was classed C (insufficient data): it was the passage of points of light.
