Sighting in Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey, September 11, 1994

Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on September 11, 1994 in Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey (Alpes-Maritimes, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 11:30 p.m., three people were driving in a car. They had gone out specifically to look for UFOs. For a brief moment they saw a luminous, egg-shaped form that passed by very quickly.

One of the three witnesses was skeptical, however, and thought it could simply have been light from a vehicle's headlights. The theft of equipment from a nearby building site the same night could lend support to that idea, but no other information was available to the investigation. Because the data were insufficient, the GEIPAN classed the case as C and concluded it was a fleeting sighting of an ovoid luminous phenomenon.
