Sighting in Sainte-Anne, December 14, 2012

Guadeloupe, France

Sighting on December 14, 2012 in Sainte-Anne (Guadeloupe, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 5 p.m., the witness noticed a shadow darkening the living room window. They went out onto the terrace and saw a black craft moving above the house. As they described it, the object was triangular, with stacked side panels and a circular shape at its center. Steam was escaping from it.

The sighting lasted between two and four minutes. During that time the witness heard a humming sound and "clapping" noises. They waved toward the craft, which immediately disappeared at speed toward the northwest. No other testimony was collected.

Although the event took place in 2012, it was not reported until August 2014. An investigator first contacted the witness by phone, then met them in December 2014, which allowed the account to be completed. GEIPAN considers this a very strange case, a close-range observation of an unknown craft. However, it rests on a single witness and was reported 20 months after the events, so it is not consistent enough to support a firm scientific opinion. It is classified C, because the available information is insufficient given how strange the case is.
