What happened

At about 2:04 in the morning, a witness noticed a cylindrical object for roughly three seconds. The object was stationary at first, then began to move. Looking at it through binoculars, the witness made out a yellow strip lying along the axis of the cylinder, parallel to the direction in which it was moving.
