Sighting in Thourotte, March 19, 2022
Oise, Hauts-de-France, France
Sighting on March 19, 2022 in Thourotte (Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).
What happened
At about 3:50 pm, two witnesses noticed a white ball crossing the sky at very high speed. According to their account, it stopped twice above them for a few seconds each time, then set off again quickly. They heard no sound.
The sighting is known only from a gendarmerie report, written very briefly, apparently after a phone interview with just one of the witnesses. The ball moved from the north-east toward the south-west, in the same direction as the wind, and its two short pauses above the witnesses pointed toward an object carried by the wind. This lead could not be explored further: the report gives no elevation angles at the start or end of the sighting, no precise trajectory, no apparent size and no information on brightness. No questionnaire was returned despite GEIPAN's follow-ups, and two phone calls by the investigator, in July and September 2022, went unanswered.
The case was classified C because of insufficient data.
