Sighting in Angoulême, October 1981

Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting in October 1981 in Angoulême (Charente, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

On an evening in October 1981, between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., the witness finished a roll of film by taking the last shots from their parents' apartment. They were photographing the city lights. Nothing unusual caught their attention at the time.

Once a private laboratory had developed the slides, the witness found an odd bright spot on one of them. They had an enlargement printed on paper in 13 x 18 format and saw an object that did not belong to the surroundings and looked like a flying saucer. The witness then made a statement to the gendarmerie and left a sketch of the photograph.

No other information was gathered about this sighting. GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning the data are insufficient to reach a conclusion. The strange bright spot on the photograph therefore remains without an established explanation.
