What happened

Two witnesses saw two elongated points of light in the sky at around 6 p.m. The lights moved in a straight line and made no sound. The sighting lasted about five minutes.

The GEIPAN investigation established that the two lights were the International Space Station (ISS), closely preceded by the space shuttle STS113. The shuttle had undocked from the station the day before and returned to Earth on 7 December. The ground tracks of both objects between 5:55 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. are included in an appendix to the file. The case is classified A, meaning a fully identified phenomenon.
