Sighting on February 21, 1985 in Bais (Mayenne, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At around 10 p.m., two witnesses noticed a very bright yellow ball of light in the sky. Its color then changed and it turned bright red. For about twenty minutes the phenomenon stayed in place and made no sound, then it gradually faded away.

The main witness and several other people were able to see it again on the following nights.

According to GEIPAN, it was probably a star, especially easy to see in the clear sky of those winter nights. The case is classified B (probably identified).
