Sighting in Beaugency, February 9, 1982

Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on February 9, 1982 in Beaugency (Loiret, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Several witnesses noticed a luminous phenomenon at around 6:40 a.m. It was egg-shaped and gave off a reddish-orange light. The sighting lasted 47 minutes, during which the object moved back and forth, from top to bottom.

One of the witnesses stated that they had already seen the same phenomenon at the same time of day during January and February.

GEIPAN noted that the witnesses' description, together with the phenomenon coming back at the same hour over several days, suggested an astronomical observation. There was not enough information to confirm this hypothesis, so the case was classified C, insufficient data.
