Sighting in Bergerac, May 28, 2008

Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on May 28, 2008 in Bergerac (Dordogne, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

Shortly after midnight, a witness saw a bright object cross the sky quickly. It followed a straight path toward the northwest. The source gives no further details about the object, such as its shape, colour, apparent size or how long it was visible, and nothing about the weather.

The investigation compared the direction and time of the sighting with the passes of the International Space Station (ISS) over France on that date, bearing in mind that the time given by the witness was French summer time, i.e. GMT + 2. GEIPAN concluded that the witness probably saw the ISS passing over, and classified the case as B (probably identified).
