Sighting in Saint-Eutrope-de-Born, March 15, 2017

Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on March 15, 2017 in Saint-Eutrope-de-Born (Lot-et-Garonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At 4:30 p.m., a witness in their garden noticed an unusual, motionless "cloud" in the sky. They lost sight of it for a few moments, then found it again: the object now looked much larger and was moving. The witness described its upper part as the "top of a saucer", in "white, black, grey". The object then disappeared, flying very low and at very high speed toward Montflanquin and Fumel.

Only one account was collected, and it contained very little information. The case description had to be reconstructed mainly from drawings the witness made in the questionnaire. GEIPAN considered a field investigation, meeting the witness in person to strengthen the file, but concluded that it would not yield more reliable information. Estimates of altitude, size and duration were available, but they remained confused and inconsistent. The case was classified C: there was not enough information for an in-depth study.
