Sighting in Bondues, December 24, 1980

Nord, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on December 24, 1980 in Bondues (Nord, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Shortly after midnight, at around 12:15 a.m., a witness at home saw a green luminous phenomenon for one to two seconds. It appeared to descend from the sky and then vanished into the mountain.

Inquiries were made with a piste patrol team that had been on duty that night, and ground searches were carried out. Neither produced any further information about the phenomenon. Because the data were insufficient, GEIPAN classified the case as C: the observation of a green light on a descending path, with nothing more that could be established.
