Sighting in Ledringhem, April 17, 2011

At around 8:30 pm, a witness heard a dull, turbine-like noise coming from the sky. They then saw an object travelling at high speed, passing just above the ridge of their home's roof on a straight path. The object was cylindrical, about 80 cm long and 20 to 30 cm wide, and black. The witness noticed no smell and no light. The object then moved away in the direction of the village.

An investigator (IPN) looked into the case but found no coherent explanation. The object resembled a drone, but of an unknown model. The witness described the sighting to the gendarmerie and to the investigator several times, without changing their account. The case was classified D1, unidentified. GEIPAN nevertheless pointed out the weakness of the file: a single witness, a very brief observation, and no photo or video. It also noted that the craft's performance was not far from that of known machines.
