Sighting in Carentoir, July 1979

Morbihan, Bretagne, France

Sighting in July 1979 in Carentoir (Morbihan, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In November 2009 the witness reported an observation made thirty years earlier, in July 1979, on a date they could no longer recall. Two people in their bedroom saw a flash of light on a wall. They then suffered severe headaches, which stopped at the same time as the light.

When they went to the window to find out where the light was coming from, they saw several beams of light shining on the road. According to the witness, the local newspaper later reported patches of burnt grass in a field in the area, but the newspaper's name and the date of the article are unknown.

No other testimony could be gathered. Given how old the events are, the GEIPAN considers any investigation difficult, if not impossible. The case is classified C, meaning insufficient data, and the conclusion records the observation of a flash of light accompanied by headaches.
