Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on June 19, 1980 in Chanceaux-près-Loches (Indre-et-Loire, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Shortly before midnight, a child saw their bedroom light up. Looking out of the window, the child saw a triangular craft moving without making any noise. Lights, some steady and some flashing, lit up the object. Its underside was lit in yellow, while along the sides yellow and red lights flashed in alternation. A red beacon shone very brightly whenever the lights on the sides reached the top.

Frightened, the child called their mother, and the two of them watched the craft vanish into the landscape. The sky was cloudy during the sighting.

No other information was gathered about the phenomenon. Because of this lack of information, GEIPAN classified the case as C: the data were insufficient to reach a conclusion.
