Sighting in Les Hermites, July 17, 2010

Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on July 17, 2010 in Les Hermites (Indre-et-Loire, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 8:45 p.m. on a Saturday in July 2010, several members of one family noticed two circular shapes in the sky to the south-east, circling around each other. One of the witnesses, who had binoculars, described them as two oval, metallic grey objects, each with a series of blue lights arranged in a circle underneath. The two objects then gained altitude, headed off toward the south-east and quickly disappeared.

GEIPAN considered the case rather strange and atypical, but could not reach a firm conclusion. The file rests mainly on a very brief statement given to the Gendarmerie Nationale, which was unable to take its investigation further. A field investigation, more than two years after the events, would bring little new information. Because the data were insufficient, the case was classed C.
