What happened

On several evenings in a row, between 30 October and 1 November 1980, the witness noticed two bright points of light in the sky that stayed fixed in place. The GEIPAN investigation established that this was an astronomical observation of two planets: Venus, at a magnitude of -3.91, and Jupiter, at a magnitude of -1.31. Both were especially easy to see at that time of year. The case was classified A, meaning identified: the witness had observed Venus and Jupiter.
