Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

What happened

Shortly after six in the morning, a driver and their passenger noticed a very bright, fluorescent white light in a field. It lit up the ground for several metres around. The light came from a dark, rounded mass that was larger than a car. After a few seconds, the light went out completely.

The field lay on a ridge, alongside a municipal road. No marks were found on the ground, and no other witness came forward.

GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning the information available is too limited to reach a conclusion. What was observed is described as a large dark mass casting an intense light.
