What happened

Shortly before 1 a.m., several witnesses noticed a luminous phenomenon in a perfectly clear sky. It was orange-tinged white and looked like a crescent-shaped piece of the moon. It then vanished abruptly, accompanied by a violent blast. A red dot remained visible for a moment before going out.

The GEIPAN classified the case as B: the investigation concluded that it was probably an atmospheric re-entry.
