Sighting in Duppigheim, 2000

Bas-Rhin, Grand Est, France

Sighting in 2000 in Duppigheim (Bas-Rhin, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The account concerns an evening in spring 2000, with no precise day, month or time, and it was only collected in 2008. At the time, the witness, then a 13-year-old teenager, noticed a red light on the living room wall that seemed to come from outside. They then saw a motionless shape behind a window pane for a few seconds, and it vanished instantly.

This was the only testimony gathered. GEIPAN judged it unusable: the witness does not describe an aerospace phenomenon but one or more glows on the ground or on a wall, with no way of linking them to such a phenomenon. The story was also reported eight or nine years after the events, without a precise date. GEIPAN classified the case as C, for lack of sufficient information.
