Sighting in Escadrille — Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur, July 3, 2013

France

Sighting on July 3, 2013 in Escadrille — Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur (France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was an aircraft (plane, helicopter…) (class A).

What happened

In the evening, between 10 p.m. and midnight, several people in Apt and Aix-en-Provence noticed luminous phenomena in the sky that moved quickly and made no sound. The movements puzzled them.

The gendarmerie carried out a very quick investigation, and the BTA officially confirmed that what people had seen was a night flight by the Patrouille de France. Such night flights lead to a few witness reports every year. The GEIPAN therefore classified the case as A, meaning fully identified. A similar sighting was made two days later, on 5 July at 10:22 p.m., in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
