Sighting in Féchain, August 15, 2008

Nord, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on August 15, 2008 in Féchain (Nord, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a balloon (class B).

What happened

A witness emailed the GEIPAN to report an object they had noticed in the sky on a Friday at around 6:30 p.m. They attached three photographs of what they had seen, but provided no other material that could have clarified the sighting. No other witness account was collected about this phenomenon.

After review, the GEIPAN found that everything in the file was consistent, in every respect, with the sighting of a balloon. The case was therefore classified B, a probable balloon. It was not classified A, because the exact origin of the object could not be proven with certainty.
