Sighting in Figeac, September 27, 1954

Lot, Occitanie, France

Sighting on September 27, 1954 in Figeac (Lot, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 8:40 a.m., three children aged 10, 8½ and 5 were walking to school along the RN 13 national road, east of a hamlet in the commune. On the way, they met a small figure who fired a shot, which frightened them. The two older children had noticed a sort of box in the meadow beside the road a little earlier.

According to these two children, the box then took off quickly. Their accounts differed on when this happened, however: the elder said it was at noon, the younger around 8:40 a.m. The schoolteacher informed the gendarmerie, and the gendarmes interviewed the children the next morning. They found no trace on the ground, and no other witness account was gathered.

GEIPAN classified the case as C: the information was insufficient and contradictory, and no cross-checking was possible.
