Sighting in Forcalquier, February 26, 2011

Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on February 26, 2011 in Forcalquier (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a light from the ground (searchlight, laser, vehicle…) (class B).

What happened

A witness reported seeing white, egg-shaped halos of light moving about at exactly 11 p.m. on 26 February 2011. The gendarmerie investigated and was able to match this account with those of other people. All of these observations pointed precisely to the place where the light came from. On that basis, the gendarmerie concluded that the lights were beams used that evening by a local nightclub.

The GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified): the phenomena observed were most likely the light beams from that nightclub.
