Sighting in Issoudun, January 23, 1977
Indre, Centre-Val de Loire, France
Sighting on January 23, 1977 in Issoudun (Indre, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).
What happened
At about 1:45 a.m., a witness noticed an orange light in the distance that seemed to be heading toward them. They woke other people, and the group then made out several glowing balls very close together, each about the apparent size of a football.
One of the objects looked different from the rest: it was rectangular, narrower at the rear, and had lit openings. None of the objects made any noise as they moved.
The investigation considered whether this could have been a transport aircraft maneuvering, since there is a military airfield at Châteauroux. That hypothesis could not be confirmed because of a lack of information. GEIPAN classified the case as C: it was the observation of moving luminous objects, but the available data were insufficient to go further.
