Sighting in L'Arbresle, July 27, 1977

Rhône, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on July 27, 1977 in L'Arbresle (Rhône, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 3:55 a.m., several members of one family noticed three motionless objects hanging beneath the cloud ceiling. They watched them for one to two minutes. By their account, each object was shaped like a flared pyramid with a rounded top. The objects gave off a white light, together with some colour, and its intensity varied.

Around 4:00 a.m. the three objects vanished within a few seconds, without a sound. They came back into view at about 4:20 a.m. and then disappeared for good into the clouds.

The gendarmerie found nothing on the ground and gathered no other testimony. The GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had seen three bright, stationary objects, and rated the case C because the data were insufficient to reach a conclusion.
