Sighting in L'Épine, June 25, 2005

Vendée, Pays de la Loire, France

Sighting on June 25, 2005 in L'Épine (Vendée, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At the end of September 2005, a witness gave the gendarmerie some photographs of a sunset they had taken a few days earlier, on 23 June, on a beach on the island of Noirmoutier. One of the pictures shows a luminous phenomenon. The photographs were taken facing north-west, toward the west. The witness gave no description of what they had seen when handing in the photos, and nobody else reported the phenomenon.

GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data: a luminous phenomenon appears on a photograph, but there is too little information available to go any further.
