Sighting in Lacroix-sur-Meuse, May 4, 2008

Meuse, Grand Est, France

Sighting on May 4, 2008 in Lacroix-sur-Meuse (Meuse, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

At around 10:45 p.m., a motorist noticed about ten orange glowing balls in the sky. They appeared to be motionless. The witness watched them for roughly five minutes and heard no particular noise.

The witness provided little detail about the phenomenon. Even so, GEIPAN classified the case as B, probably identified: the objects were most likely flying lanterns. This conclusion rests on the fact that many similar sightings were reported in eastern France between May and July 2008.
