Sighting in Le Diamant, December 10, 2011

Martinique, France

Sighting on December 10, 2011 in Le Diamant (Martinique, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness reported seeing the phenomenon from their home on 10 December 2011, at around 8:30 pm. They saw two yellow lights moving, and at one point the lights changed direction. The report gives no further details on the duration, apparent size or exact path of the lights.

According to the GEIPAN, the phenomenon was not very strange, given its speed and a movement that is fairly common for such points of light. The most plausible hypothesis was foreign military aircraft that had flown over the area without radio contact and without a radar transponder. However, the GEIPAN could not back this up, as it had no radar data. The case was therefore classified C, because the available information was insufficient.
