Sighting in Le Moule, November 21, 2019

Guadeloupe, France

Sighting on November 21, 2019 in Le Moule (Guadeloupe, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was one or more satellites (class A).

What happened

At 5:10, a witness opened their shutters and noticed a moving white point of light in the sky over Guadeloupe. They then saw many more, possibly several dozen, at high altitude. All of them travelled in the same direction at a constant speed and without any noise, following one another at regular intervals. Only one account was collected.

The investigation established that the witness had seen satellites from the Starlink constellation, launched on 11 November 2019 by an American Space X rocket. Several other people had also seen them in Guadeloupe that evening, and the local press had reported the event. The satellites' pass could also be checked on the Heaven-Above website. GEIPAN classed the case as A: observation of a satellite constellation.
