Sighting in Lédignan, February 9, 1977

Gard, Occitanie, France

Sighting on February 9, 1977 in Lédignan (Gard, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 6:50 pm, several people noticed an unusual glow in the sky to the south-east, right along the ridgeline of a mountain. The glow was spherical and at first stayed still. It then rose gradually, changing colour as it went, and suddenly vanished.

The gendarmes, alerted by telephone, saw no abnormal light and heard no noise from their station. GEIPAN classed the case as C: the movement of a luminous spherical shape was observed, but the information available is insufficient to reach a conclusion.
