What happened
At sunset, the witness was driving a car in the Cambrai area when they noticed a round, silent object hovering roughly 20 metres above a field. Four or six "big lamps" were visible on its underside. A light also came on in a nearby house that was supposedly abandoned.
The sighting lasted about a minute, because the witness did not dare to stop.
The investigation explained the light in the house: the farm was in fact being used by soldiers on manoeuvres. However, no other information could be gathered about the object, which remained unidentified. Since there was only one witness, GEIPAN classified the case as D (unexplained).
