Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on November 20, 1976 in Loulay (Charente-Maritime, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Around 7:30 pm, several people noticed a round, luminous object in the sky that caught their attention. It seemed to spin on itself, and a glow showed up on and off. The object gave off bright rays in a yellow-orange shade.

The sighting lasted a good quarter of an hour. The object then disappeared, following a downward path.

No more detailed account was ever gathered. Because there was too little information about the phenomenon, the GEIPAN classified the case as C (insufficient data): the observation of a luminous object in the sky.
