Sighting in Lyon, July 12, 2014

Rhône, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on July 12, 2014 in Lyon (Rhône, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness standing on their balcony noticed four blue circles drifting slowly across the sky as a group. They moved without making any sound. The four lights then began to flash and moved away together, staying the same distance from one another.

The GEIPAN investigation considered the possibility of a festive event, but could not confirm it. On that basis, the strangeness of the phenomenon was rated as medium to low. The testimony was judged to be of medium consistency, since the movement was described imprecisely and the witness provided no sketch. GEIPAN classified the case as C because of a lack of information and of corroborating evidence.
